Frequently asked questions

How does Mul store my data and photos?

Your travel diary stays on your device and, when iCloud is enabled, syncs through your private iCloud account. Mul stores a reference to the photos you choose rather than a duplicate copy, so your originals remain in Apple Photos. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

My data isn't syncing across my devices.

Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account on both devices, that iCloud is enabled for Mul in your device settings, and that both devices have a network connection. Sync is not instantaneous and may take a moment after reconnecting.

A photo shows a placeholder instead of the image.

Mul references photos from your library. If the original photo was deleted, moved, or isn't yet available on that device through iCloud Photos, Mul shows a placeholder. Once the original is available again, the photo will resolve.

What are Routes?

A route is a whole trip: its name, its dates, and the places you visited in order, even across several countries. Create one from the Routes button on the home screen, add places with search or by dropping a pin, and mark each place as visited as you travel. Mul draws your routes as light across the globe, and you can choose to reflect the countries of a route on your map.

What is “Route created by GPS”?

For a saved route, Mul can draw the same trip using the location and time stored in the photos you already added to your Visited Places for those dates. It only reads photos already in your diary, never your whole library, and it does not change your route. If those photos have no location, Mul places them at the level of their region.

“Dive in” doesn’t open the 3D map.

Diving into a country uses Apple Maps 3D imagery and needs an internet connection. Check your connection and try again. Your routes and diary work offline.

How do I lock Mul with Face ID?

Open Settings in Mul and turn on App Lock. Mul will ask for Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode each time it opens. Mul never sees or stores your biometric data.

Can I use Mul in another language?

Yes. Mul is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, and German. Open Settings in Mul and choose a language under Language, or keep “System” to follow your iPhone.

How do the free trial and subscriptions work?

You can use all of Mul free for 14 days. The trial needs no payment details and never charges you. When it ends, you can subscribe monthly or yearly through the App Store; prices and terms are shown before you buy. To change plan or cancel, use “Manage subscription” in Mul’s Settings or your Apple Account subscription settings. See our Terms of Use for more.

How do I restore a purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account used for the original purchase, then tap “Restore purchases” in Mul’s Settings.

How do I delete my data?

Open Settings in Mul and tap “Reset my map”. It deletes your places, visits, tags, and routes; your photos stay in your library. When iCloud is enabled, the deletion syncs to your other devices. Deleting Mul or signing out of iCloud does not by itself erase synced iCloud data — remove your entries from within Mul first. See the Privacy Policy for details.
