Mul Legal
Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Mul is a personal travel diary made by German Amaya ("German Amaya," "we," "us," or "our"). Mul lets you record places, travel plans, dates, notes, tags, and selected-photo references. This Privacy Policy explains what information Mul handles, why it is handled, where it is stored, and the choices available to you.
Mul is designed so that your diary remains under your control. Mul does not operate a developer-owned server that receives or stores copies of your travel diary content. When iCloud synchronization is enabled, eligible Mul data is synchronized through Apple CloudKit in the private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account.
Important distinction. Deleting the Mul app from one device removes the app and its local data from that device. It does not, by itself, guarantee deletion of data already synchronized to your private iCloud database. See Section 8 for deletion and retention details.
2. Information Mul handles
Mul handles only the information needed to provide its diary, organization, photo-reference, synchronization, purchase, and support features.
| Category | Examples | Purpose | Where it is handled |
|---|---|---|---|
| Travel diary content | Visited and wishlist regions, travel plans, dates, personal notes, comments, and tags. | To display, organize, and let you edit your travel diary. | On your device and, when iCloud sync is available and enabled, in your private CloudKit database. |
| Photo references | Identifiers or references that associate a Mul entry with a photo you choose from your photo library. | To display the selected photo in the related Mul entry when that photo is available on the device. | Reference data is stored with the entry. Mul does not upload or store the original photo bytes in its own servers or CloudKit records. |
| Subscription status | Whether StoreKit reports that an entitlement is active, expired, restored, or otherwise available. | To provide features associated with an App Store subscription or purchase. | Processed through Apple StoreKit and the App Store. Mul does not receive or store your card or payment-account details. |
| Support correspondence | Your email address and the information you choose to include when you contact mulsupport@gmail.com. | To respond to your request, troubleshoot an issue, and maintain a support record. | In our support mailbox and related support records. |
Notes and comments are free-text fields. Please do not include information that you would not want associated with your own private travel diary.
3. iCloud and CloudKit synchronization
Mul uses Apple CloudKit to synchronize eligible diary data among your devices when iCloud is signed in, available for Mul, and synchronization succeeds. Mul uses a private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account; this is not a public feed and Mul does not make your diary visible to other Mul users.
iCloud availability, account status, network connectivity, storage capacity, device settings, and Apple service availability can affect whether and when changes synchronize. Sync is not instantaneous, and a device that is offline may temporarily display an older local copy until it reconnects and syncs.
Apple provides the iCloud and CloudKit services used by Mul under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices. You can manage iCloud settings for Mul in your device settings under your Apple Account and iCloud. For more information, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Not a guaranteed archive. You are responsible for maintaining any additional records or backups you consider important. Mul does not guarantee that iCloud synchronization, a device restore, or the availability of a photo reference will preserve every item in every circumstance.
4. Photos and photo-library access
Mul lets you associate photos that you choose with a travel entry. Mul accesses a photo or photo reference only when you actively choose it for that purpose. Mul stores a reference to the selected photo, not a duplicate of the original image file.
The original photo remains managed by Apple Photos and, if enabled, iCloud Photos. Whether a reference resolves on another device depends on whether the underlying photo is available there through your Apple Photos or iCloud Photos configuration. If the photo is unavailable, deleted, changed, or cannot be resolved, Mul may show a placeholder instead.
Deleting a photo reference or an entry in Mul does not delete the original photo from your photo library. Deleting or removing the original photo from Apple Photos can cause its Mul reference to stop resolving.
5. Subscriptions and purchases
Mul may offer free trials, optional auto-renewable subscriptions, or other in-app purchases. These transactions are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit under your Apple Account. Mul does not collect or store payment-card numbers, bank details, or billing credentials.
The purchase screen and Apple purchase confirmation show the applicable product, price, duration, trial or offer terms, and renewal information before you complete a purchase. You can manage or cancel an App Store subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its applicable policies.
6. What Mul does not do
- Mul does not sell your personal information.
- Mul does not share diary content with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party analytics providers.
- Mul does not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs to profile you.
- Mul does not track you across apps, websites, or services for advertising or advertising measurement.
- Mul does not upload the original image bytes of photos you associate with entries to developer-operated servers or CloudKit records.
7. When information is shared
Mul does not share your diary content with third parties for their independent use. Information can be processed by the following services only as needed to provide the feature you choose:
- Apple iCloud and CloudKit: for private synchronization of eligible Mul content across your devices.
- Apple Photos and iCloud Photos: for access to the photos you choose and for availability of the original photos under your Apple configuration.
- Apple App Store and StoreKit: for purchases, trials, subscription entitlements, and subscription management.
- Email providers: when you voluntarily contact support by email.
We may also disclose support correspondence or other information where required by law, to protect rights or safety, or to respond to a valid legal process. We do not use such disclosure as a basis for advertising or profiling.
8. Retention, deletion, and your choices
Diary content
Mul retains diary content on your device until you delete it, reset the applicable data, or remove the app. When iCloud synchronization is enabled, eligible content can remain in your private CloudKit database until you delete the relevant entries from Mul and the deletion synchronizes. Other devices may retain a local cached copy until they next synchronize.
Deleting the app, signing out of iCloud, or disabling iCloud for Mul is not the same as deleting synchronized CloudKit records. To remove diary content, delete the relevant entries from within Mul and allow the device to synchronize. Apple may retain limited information according to its own service operations, legal obligations, and retention practices.
Photo references
Photo references remain with their associated Mul entries until you delete the reference or the entry. Original photos remain under your control in Apple Photos and are not deleted by Mul.
Support correspondence
We retain support emails and related records for no longer than 24 months after our last meaningful communication with you, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary to resolve a dispute, protect our rights, prevent fraud or abuse, or comply with law. You may request deletion of support correspondence by emailing mulsupport@gmail.com.
iCloud controls
You can manage iCloud availability for Mul through your device settings. Disabling iCloud may stop future synchronization on that device, but does not itself erase data already stored in iCloud.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability for personal information that we hold. Most Mul diary content is controlled directly by you in the app and your private iCloud account. For support correspondence or a privacy request, contact us at mulsupport@gmail.com.
We may need to verify your request and may limit or decline it where applicable law permits or requires. If we cannot delete information because it is held solely in your private Apple iCloud account, we will explain the relevant control available to you through Mul, your device settings, or Apple.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar rights, you may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. Our legal bases, where applicable, are performance of our agreement with you to provide Mul, your consent for permissions you choose to grant, and our legitimate interests in responding to support requests, maintaining security, and complying with law.
10. Security
Mul is designed to minimize developer access to private diary content by keeping that content on your device and, when enabled, in your private iCloud database. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You should protect your device, Apple Account, and device passcode, and keep your software updated.
Mul offers an optional app lock that uses your device’s biometric authentication (such as Face ID or Touch ID) or your device passcode to restrict access to the app. This authentication is performed by Apple’s security systems on your device. Mul receives only a success-or-failure result and never receives, stores, or transmits your biometric data, which remains protected by Apple and never leaves your device.
11. Children’s privacy
Mul is not directed to children under 13 and is not offered in the App Store Kids Category. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through Mul. If you believe that a child has sent us personal information through support email, contact us at mulsupport@gmail.com so that we can address the request.
12. International processing
Apple may process iCloud, App Store, Photos, and related service data through its global infrastructure under Apple’s terms and privacy practices. Support email may be processed by email providers in the locations where they operate. By using Mul, you understand that information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, subject to applicable law and service-provider safeguards.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Mul’s practices, features, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will provide additional notice where required by law.
